Herlin was raised in former Czechoslovakia, now Slovakia. After finishing her studies she went to USA and has been working on the cruise ships for over 22 years. From waitress to hostess and then from room service phone operator to room service manager Herlin was always in a guest contact environment. Worked for luxury cruise lines and her experiences are written on her books. During pandemic 2020/2021 when was global cruise lines operation banned Herlin created diaries, children's coloring books, school class memory organizer, guest's books, fishing logs and much more for the cruise and free time. Herlin created also Slovak cookbook which shows that anyone can cook.
